It was a heck of a run for Fergal O’Cathan who wasn’t even going to enter the High Roller. He came into the event with just $10K in cashes to his name according to The Hendon Mob before he decided he was bored with cash and entered the €1,150 satellite. He knocked out Parker Talbot en route to winning his seat and made the most of it with a runner-up performance worth €86,635.
Talbot shared with O’Cathan that he would return the favor and bust him on the final table in the High Roller and that is exactly what happened. This could have easily had a different ending if not for a couple of key flips won by Talbot.
It was a limped pot in the final hand when O’Cathan three-bet jammed for around 20 big blinds on the flop. Talbot quickly called and was far ahead just a bad beat away from the title.

Applauds erupted after Talbot improved to a full house on the turn as O’Cathan was drawing dead. The title was officially awarded to Talbot along with the €134,279 top prize.
“I am happy for you,” said O’Cathan after the event. “You played better than me and deserve the title.”
“That’s a first,” Benjamin Spragg, who was among the many on the rail for Talbot.
“Thanks,” said Talbot, “Great game.”
