While the name of the event suggests that many players from North America would participate, the America’s Cup has only two Canadians and two Americans remaining while the tournament is open to everyone.
More than one dozen players bowed out in the first one and a half levels as the field dropped from 47 to 31 contenders. The casualties included Michail Tastanis, Sam Dobbins, Philippe Souki, Aetus Leyva, and Robert Wiechers.
All those still left in the mix have now locked up at least €1,000 for their efforts.
