We pick up the action on the turn in a blind versus blind confrontation between overnight chip leader Belarmino DeSouza and Mr Christos Xanthopoulos.
The board read As 2d Ks, with the turn being the 7c. DeSouza checked, and Xanthopoulos made a hefty bet for 21,000, which DeSouza called. The river was the Qc.
DeSouza checked, having only about 50, maybe 55,000 back. Xanthopoulos left no doubt, pushing a stack 100,000 chips high out into the felt.
It didn’t take DeSouza too long to call off his tournament life with Ah 9c. It wasn’t good- – Xanthopoulos had the big slick, Ad Kc, and rockets up the chip counts.
