Huge congrats to British player Chris Bean who has taken down the €350 8-Game Championship today. He and runner-up Corey Desmond reached a heads-up deal which awarded €10,900 – and the coveted trophy – to the winner. There were 183 entries for Day 1 of the event yesterday creating a prize pool of €55,028, with 23 players paid.
Participants were required to showcase their talents in eight different poker variants – not a game for the faint-hearted. To give a special twist to the story, Bean was actually part of the Irish Open blogging team last year and even reported on this very tournament.
“I saw the field last year and told myself I want a piece of that!” said the Middlesbrough die-hard, obviously delighted about his biggest cash in a live poker tournament. He may have to fork out £30 or so on additional luggage allowance though, because that trophy is heavier than it looks.
When not reporting or playing poker, Bean is one half of the BADPokerPodcast. The other half – Dom Clementson – is upstairs, busy at his laptop covering this year’s events for Deaf players.
It was something of a media-fest on the final table as third-placed Blaise Bourgeois has also paid his dues in blogging world – both for PokerNews and PokerOrg.

Final Table Result:
1st Place: Chris Bean – €10,450
2nd Place: Cory Desmond – €10,450
3rd Place: Blaise Bourgeois – €5,750
4th Place: Andre Borrmann – €4,400
5th Place: Jim Connelly – €3,400
6th Place: Daniel Efeturk – €2,600
7th Place: Nicolas Bokowski – €2,130
This concludes the coverage for this event but the next mixed game contest is already underway with more than 150 entries in the €350 HORSE Championship. This year’s Irish Open really is the place to be for mixed game fans!!!
