After 11 hours of play, Day 1 of the Irish Open Ladies Championship came to a close, with eight players progressing to tomorrow’s final table.

When the dust had settled, it was Michelle Skinner who stood atop the pile with 1,329,000 in chips, almost exactly double that of Lydia Cugudda and her lucky chip, on 665,000.

Tatiana Volova rounds off the top three with 576,000, after a late run took her from short stack to a genuine contender.

The final will be the first event of this year’s proceedings to be live streamed — a moment we’ve all been waiting for — and one that contributes to the overall feeling here, that the festival is really starting to come alive.

The hall was packed throughout the day, creating a tangible buzz of excitement as we head into the Easter weekend.

Join the blog here tomorrow from noon, or watch along (on a 30-minute delay) on YouTube or Twitch.
