With more than a dozen entrants at the last minute, it has come as no surprise that the field of hopefuls dropped rather swiftly. Among the recent casualties were last year’s finalist Dermot Flanagan, Niall Parke, Peter Wigglesworth and Manfred Gunther from Canada.
With a field of 118 entries, the attendance of 2025 was missed by a mere four entries and the same number of spots – 17 to be exact – will be paid at least €560 for their efforts.
