With around 80,000 in the middle David Lappin was all in against Georgios Diamantidis. The podcast maestro was dismayed to see the Greek had buried aces.
Things improved for a fleeting moment when Lappin picked up an open-ended straight draw, but the next card out gave Diamantidis trip aces. Nothing changed on fifth or sixth street, but there was a brief moment of belief when Lappin hit an eight to make a queen-high straight.
But the joy soon turned to dispair as Diamantidis hit a case Barry Greenstein to make quad aces in a hand that would make the producers of Casino Royale go “Nah, that is too much!”
Lappin headed straight to The Craic Den with an extra €570 in his back pocket.
