Our overnight chip leader Benjamin Lebor is winning in more ways than one – thanks to our guest reporter Mad Harper for digging up this fascinating story about Lebor from a few years back. TLDR: Lebor was born with a type of deafness that only 1% of sufferers manage to overcome sufficiently to learn to speak. Lebor excelled at deaf school, and not only went on to learn to speak, but, following a successful career in property development and, crucially, the birth of his daughter, he underwent a risky cochlear implant surgery to improve his hearing. He’s now beaten all the odds and has roughly 90% normal hearing – and most importantly, can hold a proper conversation with his daughter. He’s also pretty damn good at this card game that we’re playing today – notably he finished 13th in the Main Event at EPT Prague last December, and is now looking good in this year’s Irish Open High Roller. Good luck, Mr Lebor!
