Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk has held a ceremonial speech, and the €350 Sviten Special Championship is now off to the races. Before the floor announced, “Shuffle up and deal,” Franke insisted on offering JP McCann and Paul O’Reilly a 0% Guinness. The three toasted, and the cards were dealt.
On the first hand, Shane Keary opened to 200 on the Button. Jonas Jurksaitis made the call from the Small Blind, and, of course, Franke wasn’t going to fold his Big Blind on the first hand.
After an initial check from Jurksaitis on the flop, Franke announced, “Pot” for 600. Keary made the call, while Jurksaitis let his hand go. Both players discarded three cards each before Franke once again fired a 1,800 pot-sized bet on the turn, enough to make Keary fold.
“I scooped my first hand!” Franke cheered in joy as he flashed for a flopped flush. This is for sure going to be a very, very fun event.
