The 2022 Irish Open’s first championship event had ground down to four-handed tables.
Vitalijs Polukejevs raised all-in for ten big blinds under the gun and it came to Ali Ayub in the big blind to make a decision. It had been quite a time since our last elimination, but it felt like the moment. Ayub made the call with Ks-Tc and was up against the Ah-3d of the marginally-ahead Polukejevs.
Our first championship final table was not in the offing as the Qs 7h 4c flop fell, but the Td changed all that. It would have to be an ace from space to keep Polukejevs in the tournament.
The 5s meant that the remaining survivors would combine to form a seven handed final, playing down to a winner tonight with €13,395 up top! Ayub’s stack got healthy once again while Polukejevs made his way to the payouts.
