One of the big benefits of Marrakech being such a popular tourist destination is that it’s super well-connected to airports all over the world.

Irish Open Marrakech runs November 10–15 at Casino de Marrakech with some 36 events taking place during the six-day festival. Click here to view the schedule.

There are direct budget flights to Marrakech from all over Europe while UK players enjoy direct connections from at least a dozen airports.

And it’s not just Europeans who can get to Marrakech with ease. There are direct flights from both New York and Montreal, while players coming from further afield have plenty of straightforward, one-stop options.

Flying from the UK

If you’re coming from Britain, you have a huge choice of direct flights to Marrakech. London is super well served with Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, and Stansted all offering multiple options. Direct November services are also available from a ton of regional airports including Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool. There’s also good news for players near Newcastle with EasyJet launching a brand-new twice-weekly Marrakech route on November 3, adding to the existing Jet2 service.

With a flight time from Britain of roughly four hours, Marrakech is also considerably closer than its exotic Morocco location might suggest.

Direct from Dublin

Irish players have it pretty easy too. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus operate direct Dublin–Marrakech services during the winter season and there are some seriously cheap fares around. At the time of writing, Ryanair was advertising one-way Dublin–Marrakech fares in November from just €15.99.

As always with air fares, prices can change quickly while baggage and other extras can all add up, so booking early is advisable.

Flying from Europe

For players in mainland Europe, Marrakech is also extraordinarily accessible. There are direct flights in November from numerous European cities, including Paris, Madrid, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, Copenhagen and Zurich.

Madrid has multiple flights a day to Marrakech, as does Barcelona, while direct services are also available from a number of other Spanish airports. Portugal is another easy jumping-off point, with frequent flights from Lisbon as well as direct services from Porto.

There’s also extensive connectivity from France, Germany and Italy, while both Copenhagen and Stockholm have direct flights.

Several new routes will be arriving just in time for Irish Open Marrakech with EasyJet launching a direct Prague–Marrakech service on October 25 and Zurich–Marrakech on October 28.

Coming from North America?

There’s good news for players across the Atlantic as well. United Airlines operates a non-stop, 7.5-hour service between Newark and Marrakech while Air Transat provides a non-stop service from Montreal.

For players elsewhere in the US and Canada, we recommend going via European hubs such as Paris, Madrid, Lisbon and London. All have extensive transatlantic connections and plenty of onward services to Marrakech.

Flying from Asia

For players travelling from Asia, Istanbul is one of the most useful gateways. Turkish Airlines operates direct Istanbul–Marrakech services throughout November, opening up one-stop possibilities from a huge number of Asian cities including Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Delhi and Mumbai.

What about Australia?

After September’s inaugural Irish Open Sydney, we’d love to see some of our new Aussie friends make the trip to Marrakech as well! There’s no denying that it’s a long journey, but one-stop itineraries are available via numerous hubs such as Istanbul, London and Paris.

And if you’ve just spent some 20 hours flying to Morocco, you may as well enjoy an extended trip and factor in some Marrakech sightseeing while you’re here.

Marrakech Menara Airport

The other good news is that Marrakech Menara Airport is only around 5km from Casino de Marrakech and the city centre. You can potentially be unpacked, checked in and heading for the poker tables less than two hours after landing!

Make a trip of it

November is also a fantastic time to visit Marrakech. Average daytime temperatures are around 23°C  – warm enough to enjoy the sunshine but without the fierce heat of summer.

And there’s plenty to do when you’re away from the tables. Just check out our guide to off-the-felt fun in Marrakech – from visiting the city’s famous Jemaa El-Fnaa square and medina souks to day trips out into the Agafay desert. For information on hotel options, please click here.
