The first few days of Irish Open Sydney have already brought plenty of action to Poker Palace, with players taking part in the Mini Irish Open, the Lucky 8’s and a number of satellites. Since August 31, there has been something happening every day, with players getting their first taste of the Irish Poker Open in Sydney. Now, on Sunday, September 6, the biggest tournament of the festival is finally here, as Day 1A of the A$2,000 Irish Open Main Event gets underway with A$1 million guaranteed, at 12:00 local time.

It is a big moment for the Irish Poker Open, for JP McCann, Paul O’Reilly, and everyone involved, as this is the first time in the event’s 46-year history that the event has left Dublin and gone international. After so many years in Ireland, the Irish Open is now at Poker Palace in Sydney, bringing live poker, Irish Open events and the famous Irish Open craic to Australia for the very first time.

What’s On The Menu For Today

There is plenty more happening today besides the Main Event. The Lucky 8’s, which has a A$250,000 guarantee and currently 88 out of 277 entries left, reaches its final (see top chip counts below), while the first Mixed 8-Game Championship also gets underway with a A$600 buy-in. For players still looking for a way into the Main Event, there are also A$250 Irish Open Main Event satellites, both with 10 seats guaranteed. That means A$20,000 in Main Event seats is up for grabs.

A$360 Mini Irish Open

But, of course, Irish Open Sydney is about more than just sitting at the poker tables. The Craic Den has become a big part of our event, just like it is in Dublin, and it is now up and running at Poker Palace. The Craic Den started a couple of days ago and there is a big schedule planned for today, with games, music, drinks and plenty going on throughout the day. You do not even need to be playing poker to enjoy it. If you are at Poker Palace, make sure you take some time to walk in, have a look around and see what the Craic Den is all about. Tonight the follow two activities are scheduled:

  • 21:00 – 23:00 : Race Night
  • 23:00 – 01:00 : Left,Right, and Center

For the players, today is the start of the big one. For everyone else, it is a chance to enjoy the atmosphere and see what the first international Irish Poker Open is all about. Irish Open Sydney has already had a busy start, but with the Main Event now getting underway and plenty more tournaments still to come, there is a lot more live poker to be played at Poker Palace.

So if you are here, get involved, check out the tables, visit the Craic Den and enjoy the Irish Open Sydney experience. And if you do make it into the Craic Den today, let us know how it is!
