For many players at the Irish Open, the lively cash game scene is one of the big attractions of the festival, with even more laughs and banter (if that were possible!) than tournaments.
Possibly the most enthusiastic and lively participants in our cash games are Irish players themselves. So, with a nod to today’s St Patricks Day celebrations (have a great day, everyone!), here’s the lowdown on this year’s Irish Open cash game action.
The cash games area is open 24 hours a day with up to 50 tables running at any given time. Every night at the Irish Open – long after tournaments in the adjacent hall are winding down – cash games are ramping up!
What’s on offer?
The Irish Open offers cash games featuring any poker variant requested – subject to demand – with games starting from €1/€2 NLH / PLO. The automated registration system makes it easy to find tables offering your preferred games and stakes without waiting around. Just download the PokerStars Live app now for Apple iOS or Google Play/Android and set up your profile.
Buying in
If you have cash (including US $, CAD $ or £ sterling) or a bank debit card, head first to the CASH DESK to swap funds for chips.
You can also transfer funds to the cage using Luxon Pay – just click “Irish Open chip transfers” under Shop in your Luxon Pay account. Winnings can be paid out as a combination of funds to your Luxon account and cash.
If you want to wire money to the cage, please note we have a €10,000 minimum. You can also get cash by using your debit card at the cash desk; on-site ATMs will restrict you to your daily withdrawal limit.
Food & drink
The cash game area has its own dedicated bar and coffee/food station so you’re never more than a few feet away from your next energy booster or soothing cup of tea.
Spin & Go Live
Fans of PokerStars’ turbo-charged format – which made its Irish Open debut last year – are in for a real treat as we’ll be hosting Spin & Go Live every single night of the festival. If anything delays your arrival at the Craic Den this year, it’s going to be this!
Running from 8pm to 11pm every night, Spin & Go Live games are FAST and when we say fast, we mean you will struggle to get a pint of Guinness down before it’s all over. Each game features four-minute blind levels, a 4,000 starting stack and kicks off with 100/200 blinds and a 500 ante. The fun comes with the “spin” which means the prize pool could be anything up to €1,000!
We’ll have a dedicated area in the cash game room for Spin & Go Live and all you have to do is rock up (with cash or your cash game chips) and get your name down.
Overseeing the whole show is Cash Games Manager Rudi Zirio. Rudi said: “I love working the cash game area at the Irish Open because it’s such an amazing atmosphere. It’s not just the poker – it’s the fact that everyone is there, all together. It’s just great.”
Cash games super-fan Franke!
Friend of the Irish Open Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk LOVES the Irish Open cash game scene. He said: “In many ways, for recreational players like me, it’s the cash games that drive us to events. The Irish Open take pride in having games at all stakes ensuring everyone has plenty of options.
“To really experience Irish Poker Open, the true “craic” is a glass of that dark brown gold, late-night PLO cash games and some person trying to tell a joke to you! You laugh with them even though you didn’t understand a THING. That’s the craic and why we all keep coming back every year. There’s just nothing like it.”
