Irish Open regular Jamie Flynn scored the biggest cash of his live poker career on Thursday with a sixth-place finish in the prestigious WPT Venetian Las Vegas Championship for $169,000.
Jamie was the first to bust on the final day of the $5k buy-in tournament when his JJ failed to hold against the AK of eventual champion Nico Betbese who hit an ace on the turn. You can watch the elimination some 52 minutes into the WPT Venetian live stream.
Jamie has cashed multiple times at the Irish Open – including five times this year – and has now added a huge sum to his lifetime tournament winnings, taking him well over the $1 million mark. His previous best cash came when he was runner-up in last year’s PokerStars EPT Monte Carlo Mystery Bounty for €145,530.
Flynn founded Doyles poker room in Limerick last year and was also Ireland’s top GPI player for 2024. There were 1,153 entries in the WPT Venetian creating a $5,303,800 prize pool.
Before the final table began, Flynn wrote on his JamFly.poker Instagram account: “I used to watch the likes of Gus Hansen, Doyle Brunson, and Daniel Negreanu on WPT final tables on TV when I was a teenager. Time to give it a go myself tomorrow.”
