It was a record-breaking day of the 2024 Irish Open here at the Royal Dublin Society. With 180 total tables available for tournaments and cash games, the action was buzzing from left to right. Two starting days for the 2024 Irish Open €1,150 Main Event were scheduled and Day 1c was one for the history books.
Back in 2018, the largest Main Event drew 1,340 entries and that number alone was smashed in this single starting day as a whopping 1,459 entries were generated. Only 319 players made it through and notable casualties included defending champion David Docherty, Dominik Nitsche, Roberto Romanello, the PokerStars ambassadors Felix Schneiders and Parker Talbot, as well as 2023 EPT Prague Main Event winner Padraig O’Neill.
Henk Pol is the new chip leader with 426,500 but his pol position is only by a few big blinds, as Simon Maher (415,000) as well as Samiel Goodman (411,500) follow close behind. Canada’s Michael Khan (388,500), Luke Walsh (355,500) and Georgios Tsouloftas (354,500) all advanced with top ten stacks as well.
