Briefly dropping into the Main Event for a moment (do check in with our friends at Pokernews for full hand-based coverage, chip counts etc), it looks like we’re on track to break some records – last year’s Day 1c got a total of 820 entries, while this year we’re already up to 880 and rising rapidly. Every table in the entire building is occupied, and all the feels for the two TDs who shall remain nameless but were spotted smoking on a bench out front wearing thousand-yard stares and muttering about war zones and the like. So far every single event has surpassed its 2022 equivalent field (with the exception so far only of the Luxon Pay High Roller, which came very close), many of them boasting more than a 50% increase in numbers. This is particularly impressive as a number of events that were rebuys last year were changed to freezeouts this time around. Turnout has been so high that three side events have had to be completely cancelled because, despite this being literally the biggest room in Dublin, there just wasn’t the space for them. Well done JP, Paul et al.
