Norwegian player Tobias Napel achieved an extraordinary record at this year’s Irish Open – by cashing in nine different tournaments across the 12-day festival.

Napel’s astounding feat  – nearly a cash per day – would almost certainly not have been possible in previous editions of the Irish Open. However, this year’s vastly expanded schedule – featuring nearly 90 different tournaments from March 26 to April 6 – did give determined (and possibly athletic) players the chance to rack up quite a few cashes.

You might imagine that Napel was racing around the tournament area entering everything in sight. And in fact the young Norwegian did made an early start in his 2026 campaign by cashing in the very first event of the festival: 130th place in the €1,150 Luxon Mystery Bounty for €970.

That first cash came at some point on Sunday, March 29th – quite a busy day for Napel, as it turns out. In the early evening, he threw himself into Day 1d of the 14-flight Mini Irish Open. He managed to wrap up that flight as chip leader but took a break during proceedings to nip over to Event #34, the Flip and Go tournament. After successfully winning his Flip round (and assured of a seat in the next day’s €1k freezeout), he headed back to the Mini to carry on building his monster stack.

The following day it was Flip and Go Day 2 – a conventional €1k freezeout in which Napel finished 14th for €430. Perhaps at this point Napel gave a wistful glance towards the Craic Den but perhaps not … because it was now time for the two-day €1,150 8-Game Championship High Roller. Of course, Napel made Day 2, finishing 11th for another €1,800.

On April 1, Napel competed in the one-day OFC Championship. He made the money again, finishing 17th (out of 17 paid places) for €800.

If you are keeping count, you will know that Napel is not even halfway through at this stage!!

Next up was the €550 NLH Spraggy Mystery Bounty. Napel thrives in this one as, although his 25th place finish only awards him €960 from the cash prize pool, he picks up another €6,500 in bounties. Kerching!

The following day – Saturday April 4th – Napel cashes in the Main Event, 447th for €2,620. He has a short break, then jumps into the two-day €1,150 PLO Mystery Bounty. This one nets him his best finish of 2026 when he makes the final of the 184-entry tournament, finishing fifth for €5,520.

By now, we’re reached the final day of the festival and Napel takes his seat for Day 2 of the Mini. As Day 1d chip leader, he has a huge stack in front of him and enjoys a very respectable 33rd place finish – out of a record 7,349 entries – for  €3,390.

Tobias Napel on final day of Irish Open Mini and en route to cash #8

One might think, at this stage, that Napel would want a break but DEFINITELY NOT. This is not the kind of man who just swans off when there is still a tournament left on the schedule. Needless to say, Napel cashed in the very last event of the festival – the €250 NLH Turbo – finishing 22nd for €680.

Napel’s total haul was €17,170, an astounding number of cashes and top spot in our newly-created “most cashes at a single Irish Open” leaderboard.

STOP PRESS: We have now noticed that Tobias Napel also ranks pretty highly in a couple of other niche leaderboards. He is currently 268th in the Hendon Mob’s “most cashes in different countries” leaderboard (he’s made the money in 16 different countries, out of 10,000+ players) and he is – perhaps unsurprisingly – lying in eighth place in Norway’s total number of cashes leaderboard (111 total).

Quite a feat, Tobias. We look forward to seeing you in Dublin next year!
