Baris Topuz had tripled up, then doubled up and even pulled ahead of Jack Moore with two times as many chips. It folded to Giuliano Bendinelli in the small blind and the chip leader did what the big stacks do, they apply maximum pressure. Bendinelli jammed and Topuz called for around 5.5 million.

The flop was save for Topuz but Bendinelli struck gold with the turn. Topuz now needed the case queen or one of the two remaining jacks to stay in contention but the river was a brick.
“This is almost embarrassing, but I’ll take it obviously,” Bendinelli said. Not long ago, Topuz had cracked his aces with eights to survive, so this bittersweet revenge ended the run of Topuz for a new high-score. Including all bounties, he cashed for €30,600.
