While there will be a handful of winners crowned, many eyes across the globe are watching to see who will become the latest Irish Poker Open €1,150 Main Event champion at the Royal Dublin Society.
The action is already down to eight players after online qualifier David Tous hit the rail in ninth place for €38,420. According to PokerNews reporter Frank Visser, Tous three-bet shoved for less than 10 big blinds from the big blind with ace-ten and was ahead after the under the gun opener Hiep Ninh called with king-jack.
Tous flopped the top pair but an untimely turn and river improved Ninh to a straight. A round of applause broke out in the entire tournament arena honoring Tous’s deep run.
Meanwhile, Ninh was rewarded with the chip lead after the hand while the final eight players all laddered up to a €49,960 payout.
