One of the most well-dressed gentlemen during the 2025 Irish Poker Open, Stuart Taylor, opened to 2,400 from UTG. Tom Dunne (Lo-jack) and Philip Clarke (Button) made the call, before Frank Stepuchin raised to 5,600 from the Small Blind.

“Since the blogger’s here, I’ll make the call,” Taylor said as he winked to me. Clarke too called and the expectations for a big hand and a good story were high.

The flop came and Stepuchin made a 5,600 C-bet. Taylor wouldn’t be writing the story as he folded, before Clarke made the call.

The already wet board became absolutely soaked when the appeared on the turn. Stepuchin bet 1,200 – one Big Blind – and Clarke made the call.

It had to happen; the board completed with the on the river. Now, Stepuchin applied maximum pressure as he went all in for maybe 15,000 more. Clarke gestured, “How can I fold?” and made the call.

Long story short, the two players split the pot with the Broadway straight. Hey, at least we got to mention Taylor’s splendid outfit!
