Thiemer leads for final day of €5k Luxon Pay High Roller

Day 1 of the unlimited re-entry €5k Luxon Pay High Roller 8-Max kicked off yesterday – the first chance for the big bucks players to flash their cash and get stuck in. There were 80 entries with 48 getting through to today’s second (and final) day. Players can buy-in for the first time – or re-enter – up until the start of Day 2 today. All newbies/have-another-goers get a 50,000 starting chip stack. The prize pool is currently at €370,500. Play resumes at 1pm.

Among those certainly turning up today is four-time WSOP champion Dominik Nitsche who finished last night with 90,000. The current chip leader is Germany’s Fred Thiemer with a sizeable 248,500 stack, some way ahead of Ankit Ahuja who has 197,500. Thiemer has never cashed in Dublin but does have an impressive CV with wins at WSOPC Rozvadov and WSOPC Marrakech. He also just came fourth in a €2,100 6-max at EPT Paris.

Also in the mix are Leo Worthington-Leese, Conor Beresford, Jani Tuovinen, Tim Chung, Marc Macdonnell, Daniel Wilson, PokerStars Team Pro Spraggy, Preben Stokkan, Irish Open Ambassador Chris Dowling, last year’s winner Benny Glaser, Andrew Hulme, Keith Johnson and Scott Margereson.
