With eight levels of late registration, the number of entrants is growing steadily throughout the first level.
Already in the field are: fifth-place finisher in the Super Seniors, Stuart Kerridge; ans 16th in the Ladies Championship, Una Kelly.
And we’ve already had our first bit of needle, flying the way of the youngsters.
When asked what advantage the older players would have here, Tim Silman — who finished one place ahead of Canadian compatriot Kerridge in the Super Seniors — piped up, “They’re just young and dumb”.
Hardly Oscar Wilde, but it gets the point across.
