2025 Irish Open winner Simon Wilson is thriving in the WSOP $3k Mid-Stakes Championship after finishing Day 3 with 9,525,000. The Irish pro was leading the event at last night’s dinner break and eventually finished the day with the seventh-largest stack after knocking out American player Noel Eicher in 59th place and Argentina’s Joaquin Pacha in 56th place. PokerNews reported that, after Pacha’s demise, someone muttered quietly that Wilson was busting everyone at their table!
There are now just 26 players left out of a total field of 3,797 entries and there is not much difference amongst the top stacks so today’s play will be hard-fought. The remaining players have locked up a guaranteed payout of $48,190 but all eyes will be on the championship title, WSOP gold bracelet and top prize of $1,189,408.
Wilson, who took down the record-breaking Irish Open Main Event in April for €600,000, has already cashed at this year’s WSOP after finishing in 150th place in the $3k NLH Freezeout for $6,000. There were 1,027 entries in that event. He also cashed in the Wynn Summer Championship, finishing in 74th place for $33,590.
Action in the WSOP $3k Mid-Stakes Championship resumes today at noon local time.
