Honestly with every passing year at the Irish Open, 50 seems less and less like what we’d describe as “senior”. Nevertheless, that’s the line for playing this event – if you don’t remember what life was like before online poker, this tournament is not for you. However, if you can recall with fondness long nights and tiny starting stacks in smoke-filled basement casinos, when crappy wifi wasn’t a concern because smartphones were still just a strange sci-fi dream – come on in!
The Seniors event celebrates the proud poker veterans who are still grinding away at the felt after all these years, getting only better with age. Last year’s event drew 174 entries and was won by Michael Farrelly, with legendary Hendon Mobster Ross Boatman taking second place. What with numbers being up across the board this year, plus what with everyone being a year older, there’s a whole load of players who newly meet the criteria for registration – so we’re expecting an even bigger field this time around. The buy in is €250, the starting stack is 20k, the late reg is open for eight levels, and the start time is noon. Who will carefully raise the trophy so as not to put their back out? Join us from noon to find out!
