Seniors have a feast of poker action to look forward to at this year’s Irish Open with the number of dedicated tournaments bumped up to three.

This year’s Seniors tourneys include – for the first time – a €1,150 Seniors High Roller Championship and a new €250 buy-in Super Seniors event for the over 60s.

The €250 buy-in Super Seniors Championship (Event 5) is the first up on the schedule, getting underway on April 10 – the very first day of the Festival. With a 3pm start, a 30,000 starting stack and 25-minute levels, the single re-entry tourney will provide a nice gentle start to the schedule.

A week later on Thursday, April 17, over 50s can get in on the action with the first ever €1,150 buy-in Seniors High Roller Championship (Event 52). It’s a two-day event with a generous structure: 50,000 starting stack and 30 minute levels. The final takes place on Friday, April 18.

On Monday, April 21, it’s time for the traditional €250 buy-in Seniors Championship (Event 65). This was a HUGE event last year with 401 entries creating a prize pool of over €84,000. James Clarke from the UK won his first Irish Open trophy in the early hours of the morning after muscling through the giant field. Clarke, who already had more than $1 million in live event cashes, won €16,778 after beating Ireland’s Michael Murray heads-up.

Among those who cashed in last year’s Seniors Championship were former champion Anthony Whorriskey – who won the event in 2023, multi-cashing podcaster Dara O’Kearney and Scotland’s Gordon Huntly. A total of 55 players made the money with a min-cash worth €410.
