The second flight of the €250 Mini Main Event is set to commence at 6 p.m. local time, pulling in players from Ireland and beyond for what is set to be one of the biggest tournaments of the series in terms of both number of flights and, it’s reasonable to assume, entry numbers, too.
With a €1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, there’s everything to play for and if last year’s field is anything to go by, this one is going to be massive.
The 2024 Mini Irish Open attracted 5,320 entries, setting the record for the biggest Irish live poker event in history. Following a seven-way deal, Joseph Carey of Ireland emerged victorious and claimed €43,300 and the trophy after a seven-way deal.
Day 1b of this year’s Mini Main will play down to 5% of the field, who will all bag for Day 2, with the top 15% making it through to the money.
Starting stacks are 30,000 and blind levels are 20-minutes long with breaks every five or six levels. Each flight offers unlimited re-entries and late registration remains open until the end of Level 10.
Day 1a of the Mini Main Event attracted a total of 178 entries, with 27 players making the money and nine players advancing to Day 2. Cristina Jugastru of Romania bagged the chip lead with 1,160,000 chips and will be the player to beat for those who are looking to lock up a lead when they bag.
