It has been a record-breaking day at the Irish Open, as 169 players entered the Mixed 8-Game Championship, making it one of the biggest mixed game fields ever held on European soil.
Germany are leading the way in the tournament with three of the top four stacks hailing from Deustchland. Dieter Kuehnl is the runaway chip leader with 779,000 chips. Fellow countrymen Marius Kalfelis is in third with 413,000 and Felix Marutz is in fourth with 378,000. Vamshi Vandanapu of England is sandwiched inbetween in 2nd place on 477,000.
Among the players who tested their all-round poker skills were Pokerstars Pro’s Barny Boatman and Benjamin ‘Spraggy’ Spragg. Also in the field were Irish poker legend Andy Black and mixed-game streamer Georgina ‘GJReggie’ James.
The seventeen remaining players will return at midday tomorrow, good in the knowledge they have secured at least a payday of €780. The winner will receive €11,980 and the championship trophy.
