The Americas Cup field is edging towards 100 runners at the moment, among them a genuine continental American – Raphael Verdugo. One of a sizeable Canadian contingent that makes the pilgrimage here every year, Verdugo’s had some decent results including a win in the €150 PLO last year. His Americas Cup stack is now above average as well on 40k or so, mostly a result of forcing a fold from Mattias Hansen with a chunky bet on the river of a 3h Js Th Jh Ac board.
“Everything got there,” said Hansen sadly as he folded, leaving himself with about 26k.
