Spraggy - Mystery Bounty

Mystery Bounty events first made their appearance at the 2022 Irish Open and – as expected – were a huge hit. Ever since then, we’ve been boosting the offer on an annual basis and this year we’ve gone a bit bonkers for them.

The 2025 schedule features no fewer than SIX different Mystery Bounties including two €5k high rollers – PLO and No Limit – and a brand new Luxon Pay-sponsored event that comes with a mouth-watering €1,000,000 prize pool guarantee.

The Luxon Pay €500 + €500 + €150 NLH Mystery Bounty tournament is first up at this year’s festival and is certain to set the pulses racing. With four start flights, a single re-entry per flight and a 50,000 starting stack, it’s set to attract a huge amount of interest and generate a LOT of bounties.

Here’s the full Mystery Bounty menu for Irish Open 2025 – and the good news is that the bigger buy-in tourneys all have super satellites at the RDS. Check out the full schedule.

What is a Mystery Bounty tournament?
Well, it’s a poker-lottery hybrid of sorts. Half the buy-in goes into the regular tournament prize pool while the other half is assigned as bounties to each player that makes the money. Not all bounties are the same, and the players themselves are not told how much their own bounty is worth. Bounties range from fairly piddling to quite hefty indeed, but you won’t know what you’ve won until you bust and then cash out any scalps you’ve collected. Bounties also mean that, in theory (but remarkably frequently) players earn more from their bounties than actual prize money.

2024 Mystery Bounties
All four Mystery Bounties held last year had enormous fields including 445 entries for the €550 edition and 262 entries for the No Limit €1,100 version.

Italian Salvatore Diamante Di Frisco bested the biggest Mystery Bounty field – the €550 NL edition – just in time for breakfast. He won €20,920 plus a further €8,000 in bounties with several other players also accruing large sums via the bounties. PokerStars Team Pro Spraggy, who finished eighth, tripled his €2,650 cash by securing another €4k or so in bounties while Philippe Souki, who finished tenth for €1,840, binked a further €14,500 in bounties. In the €1,100 Pot Limit Omaha Mystery Bounty, Romania’s Alexandru Gicovanu beat a 54-strong field to win €16,975 plus €28k in bounties. Grzegorz Kozieja from Poland bested a huge, star-studded 262-entry field in the €1,100 No Limit edition – winning €23,570 plus another €20k in bounties. Nearly 40 players cashed in that, including Dara O’Kearney, Brandon Sheils, Robbie Bull, Andrew Hulme, Jack Hardcastle, PokerStars Ambassador Spraggy and 2013 Irish Open champion Ian Simpson.
