Brandon Harris wins first trophy in Shoot-Out Championship
Brandon Harris, the highest-placed qualifier in last year’s Main Event, won his first ever trophy last night after taking down the inaugural €550 Shoot-out Championship for €15,750.
With over $480,000 in live earnings but still no title, the British pro was more than a little keen to win this one. As well as €100,000 for sixth place in last year’s Main Event, Harris’s stellar results include fifth place for €86,050 in this year’s Luxon Mystery Bounty. Now he has a trophy as well – and we’re thrilled this momentous milestone has happened here. There were 130 entries creating a €63,050 prize pool
Ps Not only that but Brandon is through to Day 2 in the Main Event with 187,000.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride – until now! Frankenstein wins first trophy in record-breaking Ladies Championship
When we chatted to Jen Frankenstein the other day, she was bemoaning the fact that, despite a huge number of final tables over the last year, she has never actually managed to win a tournament.
Well, today ended that particular curse when Jen chopped the Irish Open Ladies Championship with Latvia’s Kristiana Stauere. Normally, heads-up players who cut a deal play on for a small amount and the trophy. But, as luck would have it, the Ladies Championship had TWO trophies available – the official Irish Open trophy and another trophy endowed by the Women’s Poker Association. A trophy each – boom!
With Jen having the most chips at this point, it was agreed that she would get the title and official trophy, while Kristiana would take the WPA gong. Both won €6,923. So congrats to both Jen AND Kristiana – and how lovely to see such an ego-free end to a tournament.

Live updates are here and gallery here!
PS Eagle-eyed readers may clock that Jen has already featured in one of our articles at this year’s event – she and hubby Brian Harris both competed in the Kings and Queens tournament. She finished tenth for €500 while Brian finished fifth for €1,512. And she may well feature in another as she’s through to Day 2 of the Main Event with 121,000.

Allen wins PLO 5 card
Richie Allen has taken down the PLO 5 card tournament for €19,820 – and was totally thrilled. He said: “This one is really special to me, because Five Card Omaha is my main game.” There were 182 entries, creating a €88,270 prize pool. The result is the third best cash of Allen’s live poker career; he has cashes dating all the way back to 2007. Our indefatigable reporter Christian Zetsche was on hand throughout.
