Marcel Kessler opened to 40,000 from the button and Ludvig Sterner defended the big blind.
On the flop, Sterner check-raised to 90,000 versus a continuation bet of 25,000 from Kessler. After some thought, Kessler called.
The hit on the turn, and Sterner continued with the aggression, firing out a bet of 200,000, which failed to dispose of Kessler.
In by far the biggest pot of the heads-up battle, the river completed the board. Sterner considered the spot momentarily, before jamming for 361,000, putting Kessler in the blender.
With the title on the line, Kessler lent back in his chair, stretched his arms, and took a deep breath. After burning through two time banks, Kessler made the call.
“Good call” said Sterner immediately, as he tabled for queen-high, having missed a huge flopped combo draw. Kessler tabled for second pair queens, finding a superb call to end the tournament.
At its conclusion, Sterner and Kessler proceeded to pull their bounties, having claimed all the available tokens between them.
Sterner pulled the €10,380 and €8,120 bounties, while Kessler obtained the €31,184, €20,320, €14,000 and €6,320 bounties.
Marcel Kessler – 1,950,000
Ludwig Sterner – eliminated
