It folded round to Noel Hayes on the button who raised to 1,800 (blinds recently raised to 400/800), called by both blinds. They checked to Hayes on the Jc Kc 5c flop, who bet 2,200, called by small blind Daniel Menger alone (remember him from earlier today, trap-checking that rivered full house? That guy). The turn brought the Jh and another check-call combo (this time Hayes bet 5,000).
The river was the Ad, and Menger took over the betting, throwing in 5,000 of his own. Hayes made the call, but mucked when he saw his opponent’s Ac 7d. Their stacks are now not that far apart, and both above average (40,000) – 45,000 for Hayes and 42,000 for Menger.
