Elizabeth Bennett-Martin celebrates another amazing Irish Open

Friend of the Irish Open Elizabeth Bennett-Martin enjoyed another fantastic Irish Open this year, cashing a total of four times during the record-breaking festival including a Main Event cash and 17th in the Liam Flood tournament.

The 2023 Irish Open Ladies Event champion has enjoyed myriad achievements in the last 12 months including a runner-up finish in the PCA Ladies Event, a final table at the WSOP Ladies Circuit Event in New York, two WSOP cashes in Las Vegas and a cash in the WSOP Paradise Mini Main.

Elizabeth came to this year’s Irish Open with her great friend Miruna Muller who was celebrating her 50th birthday and managed to take down this year’s Ladies Event for her biggest ever cash. The pair are now on a road trip round Scotland.

Elizabeth wrote: “As always (this year’s event) was an amazing time!! Every single part of the event was exceptional including registration, dealers, floor staff, directors, decor, media reports, and of course the Craic Den. Absolutely everything was spectacular and every one of my friends who was here for the first time said they would be back next year as will all of us regulars.”

Elizabeth told us earlier in the year that she’s been working hard on her game and her cashes at this year’s festival amount to well over €4,000. However she added a few days ago: “The amount of money is not the determining factor for success for me. I have had other years where I have won more money but I’ve been reading a lot of poker strategy in the last year and it’s definitely had an impact. I have had a lot of deep runs and feel that I have really moved up a level in my game.”

Elizabeth is a self-=confessed Irish Open super-fan and has loved the event ever since she first competed in Dublin back in 2016. “It’s no secret that the Irish Open is my favourite event.  My friends and I travel the world playing poker and we have returned to Dublin every year because we simply love it. I’m so grateful to have time with so many friends from Canada at this wonderful event and meeting many more people from around the world. ”

Elizabeth is one of several Ontarians who are regulars in Anita Bruton’s Warehouse Poker home game in Ajax. Anita, who won a package in the game’s 24-week league, cashed twice at this year’s Irish Open (€550 PLO, €150 NLH Turbo) as did her fellow Warehouse player Mike Campitelli (Hendon Mob Championship + Mini Irish Open).
