As Shoeless Joe once said in the Field of Dreams “Build it, and they will come.” Which is what the top European mixed game players have done. An incredible 169 players entered Day 1 of the Mixed 8-game Championships creating a whopping prizepool of €51,000.

The seventeen remaining players are itching to get back to the felt aiming for the top prize of €11,980 and the trophy. Germany’s Dietar Kuehnl is the runaway chip leader with 779,000 chips.

It is very much an international feel to this tournament with only one Irishman remaining in Namir Mohamed. Players from Germany, United Kingdom, Greece, USA, Ukraine, Estonia, China and Switzerland make up the rest of the field.

For the uninitiated the eight games the players will be battling are  2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold’em, Omaha 8, Razz, 7-Card Stud, Stud 8, an NLH and PLO.

Cards will be in the air from midday, with blinds increasing every 30 minutes and a player will be crowned champion today.

Stick with the Irish Open site with regular updates from the tables.
