An initial bracket of 64 entries in the €350 Irish Open NLH Heads-Up Championship Event has been whittled down to the final two players and they are well-known names in the European live poker streets.
David Docherty will take on Spanish PokerStars ambassador Alejandro Romero for the title. The latter was the first to punch his ticket for the final after a mere 29 minutes versus Alexandru Ersen, whereas Docherty battled with Jannik Bengtsen nearly one hour longer.
The road to the final:
Round | Alejandro Romero | David Docherty |
1 | Michael Lech | Kosmas Maroudas |
2 | Dominykas Ruškys | Colm Chan |
3 | Nicholas Fisk | Nikolay Ponomarev |
1/4 Final | Tudor Catalin Neacsu | Daniel Lange |
1/2 Final | Alexandru Ersen | Jannik Bengtsen |
The biggest slice of the €19,344 prize pool is still up for grabs in the final as of 2.30 pm local time with €3,860 reserved for the runner-up, while the eventual champion walks away with a top prize of €5,925. Both figures are rather trivial for the two poker pros but it’s certainly far more important in terms of the bragging rights and shiny Irish Open trophy. For Docherty, it would be the second in as many years as he is also the defending Main Event winner here in Dublin!
