Dates set for Irish Open 2024, sponsored by PokerStars and Paddy Power

Festival features €1 million GTD Main Event and runs from March 25-April 1

After a record-breaking Irish Poker Open earlier this year, dates are now set for the 2024 edition which once again will be held at the Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge, Dublin and sponsored by PokerStars and Paddy Power.

The festival will be running from March 25 to April 1 with a €1 million guaranteed, €1,150 buy-in Main Event starting on March 27 and a packed schedule featuring dozens of tournaments. This year’s Irish Open Main Event was the biggest poker tournament ever held in Ireland and attracted a staggering 2,491 entries. The giant prize pool of €2,428,725 prize pool was way more than double the guarantee and, overall, players were awarded more than €4.5 million in prize money across the whole festival.

Satellites for the 2024 Irish Open Main Event get underway this Autumn; more than 600 players won their way into this year’s tournament after qualifying online.

Brand new side events

Next year the Irish Open is featuring a brand new NLH tournament which will come with a €500,000 guaranteed prize pool – the largest guarantee for a €200 buy-in in Irish poker history. There will be a total of nine daily starting flights as well. Furthermore, all next year’s side events are being given new structures with four more blind levels added and starting stacks increased for many events. Pot Limit Omaha fans will also be thrilled to find two new Mystery Bounty PLO events added to the schedule.

It wasn’t just the €1 million guaranteed Main Event that broke records this year. Numbers were up across the board, with nearly every single tournament attracting more players than ever before. It was the festival’s first time at the historic Royal Dublin Society in Ballsbridge and the venue proved a perfect fit for Europe’s oldest poker tournament.

New cash game area

A whole new dedicated cash game area is also being created for next year’s event and a new
automated registration system is being introduced. This should help reduce queues and ensure that everyone who wants to play never has to wait too long.

Event organisers Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann said: “We’re excited to announce the dates for next year’s Irish Poker Open and delighted to confirm that, yet again, we’re joining forces with PokerStars and Paddy Power. This great partnership gives players all over the world the chance to compete at the Irish Open and also brings a host of other benefits – not least the spectacular entertainment area which offered action-packed fun all day long at this year’s festival.

“The Irish Poker Open is renowned for its electric atmosphere, live entertainment and general Irish craic and banter and we’re going all out to make sure that next year is an even more spectacular festival. Do check out the schedule here.”

Cedric Billot, Associate Director of Live Events, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Irish Open in 2024. Players loved the 2023 Irish Open, with plenty of action at the tables and a great time for everyone, and they have come up with some innovations for the 2024 edition, including a great €200 event with a €500,000 guarantee. We hope to see many players from all over the world come and experience the Irish Open and discover the great city of Dublin.”

A spokesman for Paddy Power said: “Like the Wolfe Tones at Electric Picnic, we can’t wait to make an unforgettable comeback at next year’s Irish Poker Open with our co-sponsors PokerStars. Dublin – which bears a remarkable resemblance to Vegas if you crank up the central heating – always attracts a full house, and plans are well underway to make sure next year’s event at Dublin’s RDS is noisier than a home match for the Leinster rugby team…with slightly more cards. And we’re at full tilt with plans to ensure the 2024 Irish Poker Open is the greatest poker tournament Europe has ever witnessed.”
