James Clarke from the UK won his first Irish Open trophy in the early hours of Tuesday morning after taking down the €250 Seniors Event. Clarke, who already has more than $1 million in live event cashes, won €16,778 after beating Ireland’s Michael Murray heads-up.
The Seniors tournament was yet ANOTHER event at this year’s Irish Open which massively increased on last year’s numbers – 211 entries in 2023, 401 this year. The total prize pool was €84,058.
Among those who cashed were last year’s winner Anthony Whorriskey and multi-cashing Dara O’Kearney. Among those who competed were Colette Murphy, Kim Kilroy plus Friends of the Irish Open Elizabeth Bennett-Martin, Raph Verdugo, Tim Silman and Brian Morgan. Raph celebrated his birthday during the Irish Open but the birthday that counts seniors-wise is Miruna Muller’s! She came to the Irish Open with her great mate Elizabeth to celebrate her 50th birthday so she was only just eligible to join the Seniors. She didn’t make the money in the Seniors but she DID take down the Ladies Event earlier in the week (another record-breaker) for €6,132.
