On the last hand before the break, Jamie Byrne got his last 500k or so in with Js Jh and was looking good for a double up against Noel Hayes’ Ad 9c. However, the board delivered not four but five diamonds – Td 5d 4d 6d Kd – for a complete overkill of a flush, and Byrne thus becomes our eighth place finisher for €2,325. Hayes will return to the seven-handed final table as one of the bigger stacks on what looks like around 2 million.
