Timothy Shirley now has something in the region of 120,000, having more than doubled his chips since he featured in the thrilling list of early leaders in the first break. A big pot just came his way at the expense of Michael Mazilu:
Caught on the river with the board standing 6s 6d Th 7s 2d, the pot was around 20,000 and Mazilu fired out a bet of 14,000 (just under half his remaining chips). After a brief think, Shirley made the call and his opponent mucked. Both their hands remain a mystery, but Mazilu drops to 19,000 while Shirley is almost certainly going to feature in the top stack counts coming up in the break that is just about to happen.
