Action folded to Luciano Piaggesi, who min-raised to 16,000 from the Cut-off. Seated on the Button, Luka Sorainen (who won yesterday’s €3,000 Quatro NLH High Roller) three-bet to 48,000. When action came back to Piagessi, he four-bet to 112,000. Sorainen then five-bet shoved, and Piaggesi made the call.

Luka Sorainen:
Luciano Piaggesi:

What. A. Scenario. These are the kind of things that happen during the Irish Poker Open; Hollywood doesn’t even come close. The runout didn’t disappoint either. Piaggesi was still ahead with aces on the flop. All players let out a collective “Whoah!” as Sorainen improved to a set on the turn. The river was the final bump on the rollercoaster. Piaggesi sealed the deal with the nut flush, and the dealer began counting out the stacks; they were very even.

The final verdict: Piagessi had the biggest stack with 296,000, 2,000 more than the 294,000 of Sorainen. A very unlucky scenario for the Finn, who was chasing his second consecutive High Roller title on the Emerald Isle.

With Sorainen out in twelfth place, the remaining 11 players bagged their chips. They will return tomorrow at 13:00 to play it out for the title and the €88,000 first-place payout.

That’s a wrap for today’s live coverage; thanks to everyone who’s been following the action. Below are the final chip counts (play will resume at Level 16, featuring Blinds 5,000/10,000 with a 10,000 Ante):
