It has been a long wait since March / April 2023 but the Irish Open are finally back at the Royal Dublin Society in the city center of Dublin. The cards will be flying, the craic will be flowing and poker will also be played as well in the next seven days.
Main sponsors of Ireland’s biggest live poker event of the year are PaddyPower and PokerStars with more than 800 players winning their seats to the flagship €1,150 Irish Open Main Event. Last year, PokerStars qualifier David Docherty came out on top of a 2,491 entry strong field and will certainly be back and try to defend his title.
There are a total of 35 tournaments on the overall schedule including 11 Championship trophy tournaments and the opening day of the series will feature four tournaments as of 2pm local time.
– 2pm: Irish Open Championship Event NLH 6 Max
– 6pm: €500k guaranteed Mini Irish Open Day 1a
– 8pm: Irish Open Milestone Satellite 5 Seats Guaranteed
– 8pm: €550 PLO Mystery Bounty
The 6-Max Event to kick off the shenanigans has a single re-entry available and all players start with 30,000 in chips, good enough for 150 big blinds at 100-200 and a big blind ante of 200. With eight levels of late registration, there is plenty of time to jump into the action and the first ten levels last 25 minutes each before the level duration increases to 30 minutes each until a winner has been crowned.
With the first trophy up for grabs tonight, one of the major events of the series is also kicking off at 6pm as well. The Mini Irish Open has nine starting days and will become the biggest guaranteed low-buy in event ever held in Ireland – for just €200, players are competing for at least €500,000!
Local players will then be relieved if Dara O’Kearney is still in the 6-Max Event in the evening to increase their chances in the Irish Open Milestone Satellite as of 8pm local time, which offers five seats guaranteed. O’Kearney won eleven seats online to show off just so he can keep advertising his book, eh?
Let’s kick off a fun week of poker as we bring you all of the action from the tables, and hopefully plenty of banter as well. In case you are not Irish and want to check for some last-minute flights to Dublin, below are some reasons why this might be a very good idea:
