2025 Irish Open winner Simon Wilson has secured the second biggest win of his live poker career after finishing sixth in the WSOP $3k Mid-Stakes Championship in Vegas. His $255,186 cash at the World Series comes only a few months after the Irish pro enjoyed a sensational victory – on home soil – by taking down the record-breaking Irish Open Main Event for €600,000.

As the final day of the Mid-Stakes Championship kicked off yesterday, Wilson was lying 7th out of the 26 remaining players. He kept among the top stacks throughout the early levels of the day but slipped down the leaderboard before being eliminated by eventual champion Ian O’Hara. There were 3,797 entries in the tournament creating a total prize pool of $10,137,990.

Wilson has already cashed at this year’s WSOP after finishing in 150th place in the $3k NLH Freezeout for $6,000. He also cashed in the Wynn Summer Championship, finishing in 74th place for $33,590. His total live winnings are now close to $1.4 million and he has now made the top 20 on the Ireland all-time money list.
